Privacy Policy

The short version: your private cook logs stay on your device and your own iCloud. The only data that leaves your phone is what you choose to share to the community — and you can delete your community account and everything in it at any time. We run no analytics, no ad SDKs, and no cross-app tracking of any kind.

What stays private and local

Your cook logs, photos, report cards, fuel records, and pit-maintenance history are stored on your device, and — if you have iCloud enabled — synced through your own private iCloud account so your phone, iPad, Mac, and Watch stay in step. That sync uses Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit); it is your iCloud, not our servers, and we cannot see it.

The community (opt-in)

Stoke BBQ includes an optional recipe community. Nothing is shared until you actively post it. When you use the community, the following is uploaded to and stored on our backend and made visible to other users:

• Recipes and cooks you post, including the caption, cook details, and any photos you attach.
• Comments and direct messages you send.
• Your community profile — the display name, handle, bio, title, location, and avatar you choose.

Your private cook log is never uploaded — only the specific items you choose to publish.

Your community account

The community uses an account so your posts stay attached to you. By default this account is anonymous — a random identifier with no personal information. You can optionally use Sign in with Apple to make it permanent so it survives reinstalls; when you do, we receive an identifier from Apple to establish your account. We do not receive your Apple ID password, and we do not require your email.

You can delete your account at any time from your community profile (Delete Account). This permanently removes your community account and all of your posts, comments, votes, and messages from our servers.

Moderation

To keep the community safe, when you report a post, comment, or user, we store that report so we can review it. When you block a user, that block is stored so we can hide their content from you. See our Community Guidelines.

Where the community backend lives

Our community data is hosted on Supabase, a third-party cloud infrastructure provider that stores this data on our behalf. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Probe service credentials

If you connect a ThermoWorks or MEATER account, those credentials are stored in the device Keychain only — Apple’s encrypted credential store on your phone. They fetch your live probe readings directly from that service and never pass through our servers. Disconnecting a probe service removes the credentials.

The AI Cook Coach

The Cook Coach runs entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device models. Your cooks, temps, and questions are never sent to a cloud AI service — which is why the Coach works with zero signal at the pit.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple’s handling of that transaction is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

No tracking, no analytics, no ads

Stoke BBQ contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell personal data.

Children

Stoke BBQ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s behavior changes in a way that affects your privacy, we’ll update this page with a new date and note it in the App Store release notes.
